Kishorn, Wester Ross – Scottish Water Project March 2009

Few Raeburn operatives can have witnessed a more stunning view than that of the Applecross Mountains in Wester Ross during their many sojourns away from base.

The Company is presently completing the siteworks, testing and reporting for a new foul sewer water system in the village of Kishorn for Scottish Water.

The siteworks comprised 7 no. cable percussive boreholes all with continuous rotary coring to depths of up to 20m.  Additionally, 52 no. trial pits were excavated using various equipment to accommodate variable locations in gardens, hillsides and the inter-tidal zone.  The investigation work was complemented by a series of Soakaway and Rising Head Permeability Tests in selected boreholes and trial pits.

A programme of gas and groundwater monitoring followed the investigation to include sampling and in-situ testing.

Geotechnical testing was carried out by our sister company Terra Tek Limited at their laboratories in Airdrie and consisted of moisture content, Atterberg Limit, particle size distribution, compaction, CBR and shear box tests.
