Scottish Water WTW – Torvaig, Skye February 2009
The setting has the “Old Man of Storr” as a backdrop as Raeburn continues its’ work for Scottish Water in the investigation of the proposed Storr Forest Water Treatment Works.
The work comprised 19 trial pits with associated geotechnical testing for the design and construction of the new treatment works near Torvaig, on the Isle of Skye. The main contractor is Rok Civil Engineering Ltd; the designers are Mott MacDonald Ltd (Glasgow).
Progress was restricted on the first day due to the terrain and the depth of peat which was found to be up to 3.50m thick, however the tracked excavator driver was able to negotiate the situation and successfully complete the works within the 4 days allowed in the programme.
